Japanese Shipping Destroyed MacArthur’s Air Force In Action British Official Wireless (Rec. 7.20 p.m.) RUGBY, Mar. 4. A United States War Department communique states that in a sudden surprise attack General MacArthur’s small Air Force swept over Surbic Bay destroying several Japanese vessels. Among the enemy vessels destroyed was one of 12,000 tons, one

of 10,000 tons, one of 8000 tons and two motor launches of 100 tons each. In addition many smaller craft were damaged and large fires were started in docks on the Alongapo and Grand Islands. These were followed by many heavy explosions among enemy stores. There is practically no gound activity on the Batan Peninsula.
