OBITUARY
mr r. e. mcdougall (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 22. Th,e death has occurred of Mr Robert E. McDougall, aged 81. He was bom at Melbourne and in 1896 he married Miss Malvina Man- Webb, a daughter of Mr and Mrs H. R. Webb, of Christchurch. There are three daughters. Mr McDougall was educated at Mr C. Cooke's private school and he was a pupil of Christ’s College teoin 18751877. After a period as a clerk in the Colonial Bank of New Zealand he joined Mr John Aulsebrook as a partner in Aulsebrook and Co., biscuit and chocolate manufacturers, in 1882, becoming sole proprietor in 1892. Mr McDougall inaugurated a welfare league for his employees and a group life assurance scheme. An enthusiastic art patron and collector, Mr McDougall presented the Art Gallery in the Botanic Gardens to the City of Christchurch. Mr McDougall was the owner of the Brookdale sheep station. A founder of the Shirley Golf Club he was president in 1911-1912 and in 19241925.
