E.P.S. ENROLMENTS Major D. Jeune advises that up till Thursday night, the last day for enrolling in the E.P.S., 150 enrolments had been received for the whole of the Mackenzie County. As more than 900 persons had previously enrolled in the Home Guard, it is considered that most of the men liable to enrol in the country have done so. It is known that some have failed to enrol, and it is expected that action against these will be taken. A number of the men enrolled for E.P.S. work would be of more value in the Home Guard, and an effort will be made to induce them to transfer. The strength of the Home Guard battalion has been affected by men being called into camp, and additional men are required to make up the strength of the various platoons. The Fairlie company of the Home Guard will parade to-night, and in view of the camp to be held on the showgrounds on March 7 and 8 a full attendance is hoped for. WEATHER The continued damp and dull weather has held up harvest operations. A good spell of weather would be welcomed by farmers and those who have procured headers. The weather in the Mackenzie country above Burke’s Pass has been very hot and dry and rain would be welcomed in that part of the county. RABBIT BOARD As Mr A. Mackintosh, the board's inspector, is shortly leaving on military duties, the board is advertising for a relieving inspector to take his place. The board has now lost three of its inspectors, Messrs H. W. Bennett. J. J. Dore, and Mr A. Mackintosh. PERSONAL Messrs H. H. Wall, G. E. Ridley and L. E. Carrol have left for camp. Mr H. G. Shanks has returned after having undergone training.
