WINCHESTER
RED CROSS SUB-CENTRE At the monthly meeting of the Winchester Sub-Centre of the Red Cross Society, Mrs K. L. Stone-Wigg presided. Tire president thanked the members for their ready response to the appeal for cakes and biscuits for the Hanmer Military Hospital. A vote of thanks was extended to Mr Washington for his assistance in packing the biscuits and arranging transport. It was decided to hand the local Patriotic Committee the balaclavas received from the Winchester Women’s Institute. It was decided to invite Mrs Tripp to attend the annual meeting. E.P.S. armlets were distributed to V.A.D. members. The section leader was instructed to approach the Home Guard with information concerning the first aid lectures commencing shortly. Thirtyone field dressings were forwarded to Geraldine. Mrs L. Young offered, if an emergency arose, to take into her home any sick children needing special attention. Information regarding camouflage nets was given by the president. A large quantity of wool was distributed. The following garments were handed in:—Patriotic 31, Red Cross 42. refugee 22. Keen interest was shown in the first aid class held in the Library. Lectures are being given by Dr. F. A. Scannell.
