The gallops were done in shower weather, but the track was fast. Wild Fox. which looked to be set a: impossible task in the cup, taking line through the weighting of Heartl did seven furlongs in Imin 29 3-ssec the first three in 38 2-ssec. She shdul have a deserved winning turn in th mile Stewards’ Handicap. Easily the outstanding sprint of th morning was done by St. Cloud, whic! reeled off five furlongs in Imin 0 2-sse( the first furlong taking 12 2-ssec. Dori was with her early, but St. Cloud soo drew ciear to win by six lengths. Dori recorded Imin 1 4-ssec. Though a acceptor for Hokitika. St. Cloud wi not start, but a repetition of trac form will give her a winning turn a Greymouth. Mauretania and Hughsotis. Hokitik prospects, worked the reverse way ove six furlongs in Imin 15 2-ssec. Arctic Dawn and Sally Lunn brok away five lengths in front of Gladyne at the nine furlong post, but thoug: Gladynev made up some ground he wa still three lengths behind Arctic Dawr which beat Sally Lunn by a lengtl at the finish. Gladynev required 2mi 0 4-ssec for the distance, the first ha! mile taking 53 2-ssec. and the six fur longs Imin 20 2-ssec. The other pai took about the same time.
