Advice has been received that Sergeant T. V. Healy who was listed as missing is now reported a prisoner of war. The Rev. J. S. Somerville, of Tapanui, has been appointed to serve as a chaplain with the armed forces. He was granted leave of absence for a year at a meeting of the Presbytery of Mataura. In the absence of Mr H. P. Kidson on military service, the position of rector of the Otago Boys’ High School has been taken over by Mr F. H Campbell. Mr T. R. Cresswell, a former head master of Wellington College, is assisting Mr Campbell as a member of the school staff. Mr J. R. Frethey, chief accountant of the National Bank of New Zealand, will retire on March 31. Mr Frethey joined the bank at Wellington in 1902. He was on the general manager’s staff after experience at the Wellington branch. He \will be succeeded by Mr W. E. Monk at present assistant manager at the Auckland branch.
