WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

WASHDYKE There was a small attendance at the Washdyke Women’s Institute’s February meeting. Mrs Kellahan presided. The secretary was instructed to convey to Mrs Jones congratulations on the birth of a son. A number of handkerchiefs were handed in for the Patriotic Fund. Arrangements were made to collect scrap metal. During the afternoon members practised bandaging. Competitions resulted as follows: Slice of Christmas cake: Mrs James and Miss Kelman (equal) 1, Mrs Darling 3. Three runner beans: Mrs James 1. Premier bloom, Miss Kelman.
