NEW ATTACKS IN CHINA

Fighting On Three Fronts (Rec. 6.30 p.m.) CHUNGKING, Feb. 17. The official radio announced that under an artillery cover the Japanese forces launched a new attack at Ichang. Fighting has flared up on the West Hupeh front. The Chinese are resisting at every point. On the West Suiyan front Chinese units threw back the enemy’s main force south-west of Paotow and inflicted heavy losses. All Japanese garrisons and defence works in that area were destroyed.
