BOROUGH RATES
NINETY-ONE PER CENT PAID Ninety-one per cent of the rates levied in the Geraldine Borough were received before penalty date, said the Town Clerk (Mr A. L. Cameron) yesterday. Of £3448/12/9 levied, said Mr Cameron, a sum of £3128/19/10 had been paid, leaving a balance of £319/14/11 outstanding. It was expected that a big part of this amount would be paid during the coming month, said Mr Cameron.
PENNANT AGAIN AT MASTHEAD The pennant was flown at the top of the National Savings pole at Geraldine again yesterday when a sum of £266/18/- had been deposited, representing £9B/18/- in excess of the quota of £l6B a week. The flag has been flown for fourteen weeks at Geraldine, and this is the eighth week in succession. There are now 1600 accounts representing 59.7 per cent of the population. PERSONAL Mrs J. C. Templer, who is visiting Christchurch, will return to Geraldine on Friday.
