NO CHARGE MADE

Broadcasts By Soldiers (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 18. “My attention has been directed to statements that have been made to the effect that soldiers in the Middle East are being charged for the recording of messages for subsequent broadcasting in New Zealand,” said the Hon. D. Wilson, M.L.C. (Minister in Charge of Broadcasting). “It has never been the policy of the Government to charge for the recording of messages, .'.nd consequently it is difficult to understand how these statements originated. In order to make definitely certain that no charge is being made I arranged for a cablegram to be sent to the broadcasting unit in Egypt acking for an assurance that soldiers could record messages gratuitously. The unit replied that no charge was made to soldiers sending messages.”
