FOOD RIOTS
Many Arrests Made (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) VICHY. Jan. 28. A hundred tons of foodstuffs have been rushed to the Mediterranean region of France in an effort to check the food demonstrations which have occurred in the last fortnight. It is admitted that some 'of the demonstrations have taken a political aspect. It is stated that order would be energetically maintained if there was a recurrence. Many arrests have already been made at Montpellier, and four have been executed in Paris by Germans on charges including de Gaullist activities.
