SCHOOL COMMITTEE
CHRISTMAS PARTY FOR INFANTS A Christmas party will be held for the infant classes again this year, according to a decision made at the monthly meeting of the Geraldine School Committee, when arrangements for the school break-up were left to the headmaster. The chairman (Mr W. H, Kirk) presided. It war also agreed to procure a duxmedal for each of the primary and secondary departments. To stimulate competitions a house system has been commenced in the secondary and intermediate schools and this was working very well, the headmaster (Mr B. F. Hayman) reported. A cricket club had been formed in which the boys themselves had a large measure of control. In the junior school six tenicoit courts had been established. A letter from the Canterbury Education Board advised that the superintendent of works would shortly make an inspection of work requiring attention at the school. PERSONAL Mesdames H. Coombes and R. Tagg are spending a short holiday at the Rangitata Mouth. Constable V. Cross (Invercargill) has been visiting Mr R. Brown, Woodbury Road. Mrs M. Broad is visiting Waimate. Mrs A. D. Booth and daughter (Wellington) are the guests of Mrs P. M. McKenzie.
