(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 10. At the Addington market there were larger entries in the major sections of stock but there liras little quotable change in Values. Spring lambs—For the 40 Odd lanibs penned there was a keen sdle at values ranging from 30/- to 44/-, or about 1/3 per lb. . Store sheep—Values were a shade easier for ewes and lambs which made up to 17/8 for twb-tooths 2 all counted. Four-year and five-year ewes to lamb sold at 22/3. Early short wethers from the Chatham Islands sold at up to 24/1.

Fat sheep—There were 3750 penned, riiostly of good oualitv arid with some consignments from OtagO and the North Island. The quality was excelIrint. The easing was riot quotable although the larger entry made the market less keen. Good wethers made from 40/- to 46/-, medium 34/- to 39/-, good heavy ewes 24/- to 32/-, prime medium 23/- to 26/-, ordinary 22/- to 26/-.

Fat cattle—There were 544 penned, 140 more than last week, yet the market held last week’s values. Some excellrint quality was forward, sriveri! triick lots averaging round About £2O. Good steers sold At £l7 to £23/17/6, medium prime £l4/10/- to £l6/15/-, good heifers. £ll to £l6/17/6, best cows £lO/10/- to £l5/7/6, rough down tb £6/10/-. Choice beef made from 44/6 to 47/- per lOOlbs, good 40/- to 43/6, medium 36/- to 39/- ahd secondary down to 30/-. Fat pigs—Good quality porkers were better by 2/- to 3/- a head. Valbes ranged fi-Offi £2/7/6 tb £3/7/6, an average per lb of 78d to 9!d. Bacon values, were unchanged. Prices ranged from £3/7/6 to £5/2/6, an average per lb of 61d to 71d.

BURNSIDE SALE

MUTTON SLIGHTLY DEARER (PA.) DUNEDIN, Sept. 10. The fat cattle entry at Burnside was a fairly large one of 305 head. The sale opehrid with priefes on a pAi- with late sale rates and continued firm thtoughriut. Priirie steers made £l9/12/6 to £23/7/6, good £l7/2/6 tb £lB/2/6, medium £l3/7/6 to £l5/17/6, light from £ll/2/6, extra prime cows and heifers £ll/2/6 to £l5/7/6, medium £9/2/6 to £lO/2/6, and light £6/2/6. The entry of fat sheep totalled 1950 and was made up principally of ewes of prime quality. The sale operited on a par with last sale and. improved to the extent of 2/- a head for medium ewes while heavy ewes showed barely the same appreciation. Heavy wethers sold at an advance of 1Z- a head and light wethers up tb 2Z-. Prime writhers made 33/6 to. 39/3, medium 31/6 to 32/6, light from 26/-, prime ewes 24/6 tri ?4/3, medium 20/6 tb 22/6 and light ewes 17/6.

A medium yarding of 150 fat pigs was forward. The sale opened on a par with last week’s rates but firmed towards the fend. Best baebriefs made tb £4/19/- and good porkers to £3/16/-. STUDHOLME SALE A medium entry of fat and store sheep sold keenly at Studholme sale yesterday. Values. Were:—Fat ewes 19/10, 23/10, 26/10; fat Wethers 33/4. 33/10, 36/10, 37/1; crossbred wether hoggets 16/9 to 22/10; ewe hoggets 20/6 to 24/7; halfbred ewes 22/8; 6trioth ewes 27/3; sound mouth ewes 18/3 to 23/9.
