FAIRLIE

HOME GUARD There was a good muster at the parade of the Home Guard on Monday nil • After a route march Instruction was given in musketry, and physical drill was also carried out. The ambulance section carried on with bandaging. Those who have been attending the weekly classes throughout the winter, have gained considerable knowledge in first aid, and are becoming a unit that could render practical help if the necessity arose. Additional members would be welcomed to this unit.

Mr D. Jeune, Battalion Commander, in a memorandum to Platoon Commanders advises that a church parade of the Home Guard will be held at Fairlie on Sunday, September 7. All Guardsmen from the surrounding districts are invited to attend. The parade will fall in under a marker for each denomination, and after parading will march to the respective churches. The Mackenzie Highland Pipe Band, which is part of the Home Guard organisation will head the parade.
