Shipment From America
(7.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 14. The Secretary for the Interior (Mr W. H. Ickes) announced to the press that the first American tanker shipment of aviation gasoline would leave Los Angeles to-day for Vladivostock. Other tankers would follow shortly. Mr Ickes said that despite the sales “curfew” deliveries of gasoline had gone up eight per cent., therefore, more rigid steps were expected immediately. He was sending Mr Edwin G. Pauley to London to study the oil situation in all its aspects, including rationing.
