CANADIAN ARMY GROWING
Record Divisional Strength Soon RUGBY. August 12. Following yesterday’s statements by Mr Angus Macdonald regarding the growth of the Canadian Navj . information published in London show’s that the Dominion’s land forces show equal expansion and the Canadian army will shortly have the greatest divisional strength in its history. The present total strength, including troops both at home and overseas. is about 220.000 men. Further volunteers are eing recruited at t.?e rate of 7000 a month. The first and second Canadian divisions have been in Britain for some time and part the third division and other troops arrived recently in the largest convoy yet to leave Canada. The last of the third division and the fifth armoured division is due during the next few months. The fourth division is stationed In Canada and the sixth division is now being mobilised. During the last war Canada raised fix e divisions but the fifth was broken up for reinforcements.
