CLANDEBOYE BRANCH Conference remits were discussed at the monthly meeting of the Clandeboye W.D.F.U. and Mrs Buchan was appointed delegate to the conference in July. Apologies were received from Mesdames Sewell. Prattley, Hancock, Roklns, Mclver, Mcßride, and McFarlane. The president welcomed the new members. Mesdames Dale, Fairbairn, Bell, and Mclver and also Mrs Southby, a visitor from the Queenstown branch. Correspondence was read for the Dominion secretary dealing with work for disabled soldiers, Plunket aides and blood donors. Letters were received from the Group Travel Clubs and the Country Women’s School which is to be held in Timaru. Mrs Buchan and Miss Mcßride were apBd to represent the division at the ay party of the Temuka Women’s Institute on July 1. Competition results were: Shortbread (senior), Mrs Barnett 1, Mrs Wheeler 2, Miss Mcßride 3; flowers, Mrs Wheeler 1, Mrs Rodger 2, Mrs G. A. Davey 3; bowl of berries, Mrs Wareing 1, Mrs G. A. Davey 2, Mrs Watson 3; bowl of berries (juniors), Miss Crossman 1; shortbread, Miss Wheeler 1, Miss Crossman 2: flowers, Miss Wheeler 1, Miss Crossman 2. MAGISTRATE’S COURT At a short sitting of the Temuka Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Nancy Brownlee was fined £2 (costs 10/-) for failing to give way to the right. Judgment by default was entered in the civil case Morrison and Sons v. W. J. Paterson for the balance of debt £4/6/8. Messrs W. F. Evans and A. Bisdee, Justices of the Peace, were on the Bench. BASKETBALL The draw for the Temuka district basketball competitions is as follows: First grade: Clandeboye v. Temuka Y.W. at Clandeboye. 2 p.m. (Mr Armstrong); Pleasant Point v. Winchester at Pleasant Joint, 3 p.m. (Mr Malcolm - son). Second .grade: Winchester v. St. Joseph’s at Winchester, 2.15 p.m. (Mr D. South); Temuka D.H.S. v. Temuka Y.W. at High School Courts, 2.30 p.m. Third grade: Winchester v. Pleasant Point at Winchester, 3 p.m. (Miss M. Dippie); Milford V. St. Joseph’s at Milford, 2.30 p.m. (Mr R. South). PERSONAL Mrs J. Somers, who has been visiting Temuka has returned to Lake Tekapo.
