NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS (P.A.) BLENHEIM, June 24 With an entry of 62 dogs, som< from as far afield as North Aucklanc and Southland, the first event wai concluded this-afternoon in the South Canterbury and New Zealand Colli; Dog Trial Championships. Th< weather was ideal for the two day; occupied by the opening event, th( National and South Island Huntawqi Championships. The South Island event resulted ai follows:—E. Harris’s Ben (Taihape) 58 points, 1; G. McMillan’s Gyp (Otane), 57 J points, 2; I, Anderson’: Pat (Kurow) 57 points, 3: M. Matheson’s Syd (Middlemarch) , 565 points, 4 The first seven dogs in this even qualified to run off for the Dominioi title which is awarded to the highes aggregate for two runs. This rui resulted:—M. Matheson’s Syd, 59pts 1; R. Grigg’s Scott (Blenheim), 5’ points-, 2; A. GUes’s Red (Clarenc: Bridge), 55 pointy 3; E. Harris’s Ben 54 points, 3. The New Zealand championship ag gregate resulted: —M. Matheson’s Syd 1155 points, 1; E. Harris’s Ben, 11; points 2; R. Grigg's Scot, 1094 points 3; I. Anderson’s Pat, 109 points, 4. The trials will probably extend ovei the remainder of the week.
