NAZIS USED FRENCH SUBMARINE

Sinking Of Robin Moor (Rec. 9.38 p.m.) CAPETOWN, June 19. The Germans used a French submarine to sink the Robin Moor, according to the second officer, Mr Taylor. He said. “I plainly saw the words 'La Touche’ in raised letters on the side of the conning tower. The letters were painted over In an attempt to hide them. There also was a cartoon of the head of a Guernsey cow on the conning tower with the inscription ’La Vache Qui Bit.’ The commander certainly was German, although he spoke English.” Mr Sumner Welles announced that the survivors of the Robin Moor, who were landed at Cape Town, have excellent photographs of the guilty Üboat with which to determine beyond doubt the U-boat's identity.
