Mrs J. R. Loughan. Scargill, is the guest.of Mrs B. E. H. Tripp, "Olielton.” Mrs P. H. Cox, who has been the guest of her sister, Miss Fox. Wai-iti Road, has returned to Christchurch.
Mrs E. W. D. Unwin, “Hlghthorne,” who has been staying with Mrs Forbes O'Rorke, Hororata, will return home to-day.
Mr and Mrs Gordon Hammond, who have been staying with Mrs J. Munro, Pleasant Point, have returned to Takamatua.
Mrs Charles Tripp, Orari Gorge, who has been spending a holiday in North Canterbury, will arrive to Tlmaru to-day. Mr and Mrs H. Cloake have returned to Greymouth after a visit to Mr and Mrs L. J. Stocker, Arthur Street.
Hooded capes and coats * to, protect children's heads from failing glass dur-, tag ,alr raids were among the styles of clothes displayed at a children's mannequin parade held recently 'in Melbourne, in connection with the drive for clothes for the bomb victims in-England. A new sub-section of the work is the making of occupational toys and project books for “children’s corners” in bomb-proof shelters. Scrap books are particularly valuable. The main point is the shorter and easy to control wave which is just a natural looking upward sweep at the neck, and Ideally suited to hair with a slight natural wave. War conditions are likely to sound the death kneU of the synthetic blonde when the present crop of hair “grows out.” Dyes and bleaches are increasingly difficult to obtain and most of the experts are doing more Important work.
