Present Leads To Gaol

(PA.) WHANGAREI, June 17. John McLennan, a well-known farmer, walked into the police, station on Saturday With two unopened bottles of whisky as a present for police constables with whom he was acquainted. He left his car in the middle of the street and said he had brought the whisky because the police Were jolly good fellows. As a result of the visit he was arrested and charged with being intoxicated when in charge of a car. Mr R. Ferner, S.M., to-day sent him to gaol for ten days. Defendant, who was described as an affable,’ good-natured man, had been gulltv of the same offence to 1934, when his licence was cancelled for three years.
