AN IMPROVED MARKET Average entries for this time of the season came forward for the fortnightly stock sale held yesterday at Temuka. Fat cattle showed an improvement of £1 a head, and fat sheep were firmer by fully 1/-. About 500 fat lambs were yarded these also selling at values fully up io schedule. The range was: — Fat cattle—Steers, best £l3 to £l5/7/6, medium £lO to £ll/7/6, light £7 to £9/12/6. Heifers, best £8 to £lO/7/6, medium £7 to £7/17/6, light £5 to £6/7/6. Cows, best £8 to £lO/17/6, medium £6 to £7/12/6, light £4 to £5/17/6. Store cattle—Empty cows 25/- to 39/-, 2 and 3-year-old steers to £6, springing cows £7 to £9/7/6, springing, heifers, medium ' £5/10/-, heifers in profit to £6. Fat sheep—Wethers, best 33/- to 35/10, medium 28/- to 32/-, light 22/to 26/-. Ewes, best 16/- to 18/10; medium 13/- to 15/4, light 9/- to 12/-. Lambs, best* 25/- to 27/10, medium 22/- to 24/1, light 19/- to 21/-. Pigs—Best weaners 14/- to 17/-, small weaners 9/- to 11/-, stores 25/to 30/-, light porkers 28/- to 36/-, light baconers 38/- to £2/10/-.
