N.Z. FIGHTER UNIT

Training Completed In England RUGBY, May 6. The first Royal Air Force fighter squadron composed entirely of New Zealanders has completed its training at a north of England station, and is now in operation. The formation of the squadron brought together about 24 New Zealanders from the squadrons to which they were originally posted. The squadron leader is a 25-year-old airman of Dannevlrke, and formerly a flight commander in the Czech fighter squadron. The average age of the squadron is 22. Nearly half of the personnel are sergeant pilots. The men are using Spitfires contributed by New Zealand.
