Meningitis Outbreak PUBLIC MEETINGS PROHIBITED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 7. The Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer, Minister of Health, states that a close watch is being kept on the meningitis outbreak in North Auckland. The schools have been closed and public meetings have been prohibited. Teachers are to stand by their schools and not travel from their areas. The military authorities are co-operating in limiting troop movements to a minimum. He adds that in the interests of the country as a whole the people of the North Auckland area should not move from place to place unless such travel is essential. He hopes for the co-operation of the public in attacking the outbreak.
