A WAR EFFORT
CONSERVATION OF STERLING By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON. February 23. “If we are determined to play our full part in winning the war. then it is obvious we can afford to make relatively greater sacrifices in doing without luxuries,” said the Hon. W. Nash in a statement on the conservation of sterling as part of the Dominioh’s war effort. After referring to the British Government’s latest order further curtailing home trade, the Minister said: “Actually we are doing a great deal to help Britain by curtailing imports of certain things, thus helping the general plan of enabling the diversion of British effort from less essential goods to munitions. It simnly means taking workers from one factory to another to secure the best possible war effort. That is the plan in New Zealand. If the people realise that temporary discomfort is a direct contribution to the war and a quicker victory then the means will justify the end.”
