U.S. DELEGATES IN BRITAIN
Discussions on Bases By Telegraph—Pres* Association—Copyright LONDON, January 24. Delegates from the United States have arrived in England to discuss matters in connection with the air and naval bases leased to the United States Government. They will discuss problems of administration and jurisdiction that have arisen since the agreement was made. Bermuda, which presents special problems owing to the smallness of the islands, will be represented by three members of the House of Assembly, one of the oldest democratic institutions in the world. Newfoundland. Trinidad and the Leeward Islands will also be represented, and it is hoped to commence the discussions immediately. The Secretary of State for the Colonies (Lord Cranborne) will preside at the first meeting. Correspondence which passed between the United States Secretary of State (Mr Cordell Hull) and the former British Ambassador to Washington, the late Lord Lothian, on the question of the leases has been published in a White Paper.
