BRITAIN AND U.S. BARRED

Carol Seeks To Leave Spain By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received January 21, 12.5 a.m.) LONDON, January 20. The “Daily Telegraph” sfiys the Spanish Government assured ex-King Carol he would be allowed to leave the country if he furnished cast iron guarantees against the possibility of going to America or Britain where it was feared he might start political activity. Friends therefore approached the British and American Governments to obtain assurances that Carol would not be given visas to enter either country. The British Government gave such an assurance. Carol’s advisers hope that Washington will give an unofficial guarantee although the immigration laws do not allow the barring of any individual to enter the United States.
