Meeting Of Dictators

LONDON, January 20. An official Berlin spokesman denied that any meeting had taken place between Hitler and Mussolini. Asked if any meeting was taking place the spokesman replied that he had exhausted his knowledge on the subject.
The Berne correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain states that, according to authoritative diplomatic reports, Hitler and Mussolini met to-day at an undisclosed rendezvous. Private communications between Rome and European points were severed, according to advices from Switzerland. Attempts in Berlin to get Rome by medium of the Trans Atlantic telephone were futile, only Government messages being accepted. Hie radio news traffic from Rome, which is usually received, did not show up in New York until hours after the scheduled time although the communications companies reported that atmospheric conditions were normal.
