Basic Wage in N.S.W.

Reaching a new high level, the basic wage in New South Wales will rise by 3/- a week from the beginning of February. It will then be males £4/8/-, females £2/7/6 a week.

The payment of 5/- a week for each child under 14 irrespective of the parents’ Income is planned by the Federal Government. The scheme now before a Cabinet sub-committee will Include all children and not exclude the first child. The cost of the scheme will probably exceed £11,000,000 a year.
