Mrs M. C. Barak is spending a holiday in Timaru with her niece, Miss Joan Stack.
Miss Mabel Twhigg, Craighead Diocesan School, will leave to-day on a visit to the North Island. Mrs G. H. Cosslns, Ti-Ora Flats, will leave to-day to stay with Mrs W. T. Ritchie, at Moeraki.
Miss A. L. Mcllroy, “Kelso,” Sarah Street, returned yesterday from a visit to Mrs D. W. Hunter, Balcaim, North Canterbury. Miss Zona Blaikie will arrive from Wellington to-morrow to spend the holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs W. S. Blaikie, Sealy Street. Miss Nora Fleming, Selwyn Street, who has been spending some months in the North Island, has returned home.
Mrs J. K. Hardy and her daughter. Miss Sheila Macdonald. Christchurch, will spend Christmas with Mrs Guyon Macdonald, Orari.
Miss Oakeley, Craighead Diocesan School, will be the guest of Archbishop West-Watson and Miss West-Watson. Bishopscourt, Christchurch, for Christmas.
Miss Vivien Raymond, Pleasant Point, who has been staying with Mrs Downes Roberts, Middlemarch, Central Otago, and with Mrs Peter Riley, Dunedin, will return home to-day.
Mrs Hunter-Weston, who is staying with Mrs Gould Hunter-Weston, "Mt. John,” Tekapo, will arrive to-day on a short visit to the Grosvenor before returning to Dunedin. Dressed in traditional white with scarlet sash and wearing green wreaths and lighted candles on their heads members of the Auckland Scandinavian Club enacted the Swedish Christmas custom of offering food for strangers at a party on Saturday night. They further illustrated the national tradition bv carrying trays in token of goodwill and hospitality, and singing songs of welcome. The singing of six national anthems, British, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Swedish, and New Zealand, completed a unique entertainment.
