What Readers Think Letters to the Editor
HOLIDAY CAMP SITES Sir, —I am one of many who would like to know why the camping ground in Virtue Avenue is not going to be passed as a suitable area for visitors to Timaru. It is absolutely ideal and those who camped there last year will learn of this ridiculous decision with extreme regret. Any arrangements made last year were very satisfactory and nobody died of any terrible disease. The Show Ground is too far out for campers, especially when petrol Is scarce. The camping ground needs to be within comfortable walking distance of the sea and sports. Why cut out this one ideal spot? The only fault is that it cannot accommodate many more caravans. The Borough Council hopes visitors will patronise Timaru and admire the work done to make the Bay attractive and yet they deliberately do things like this.—l am, etc., CAMPER. Timaru, December 19. CORRESPONDENTS ANSWERED ELECTOR. 1941: Messrs W. H. Hall and B. E. H. Howell voted against adoption of the Finance Committee's report. Two members of the Board, Messrs Campbell and Turnbull, were absent from the meeting.—Editor. "Timaru Herald. ”
