ADJOURNED SINE DIE
APPEALS OF SLAUGHTERMEN By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, December 18. The Man-power Committee adjourned sine die cases of slaughtermen, appeals on whose behalf were made by the Industry. Youth and physique were stated to be essential by the appellants, besides which the men were part of a chain, and their absence would cause a serious break. Another appeal adjourned sine die was in respect of a mechanic in a hosiery factory, which was stated to be working two shifts. The absence of this man would means a reduction affecting 28 girls and five men. The shortage of stockings was acute, and inquiries had actually been made among cosmetic manufacturers regarding the possibility of producing a specially prepared variety of paint, with pencils, for leg decoration.
