MAJESTIC THEATRE “THE AMAZING MR WILLIAMS” Joan Blondell and Melvyn Douglas are featured in “The Amazing Mr Williams,” which opens at the Majestic Theatre to-day. “Joan and Melvyn comprise the greatest comedy and romance team I have ever seen.” says the director. “Continued playing together, though it doesn’t seem possible, makes them even sharper foils for one another. High comedy, by its very name is not broad but subtle. Only a sensitive understanding and finely balanced sense of humour can cope with its niceties. To put it across, with full flavour yet restraint, one needs a command of nuance, shading and split-second timing. This, in my opinion, when ripened by rich experience, is a beautiful thing’to watch. Joan and Melvyn have it to an extreme degree, as their performances prove, and the same can be said for other cast members in our latest pictutre.” “The Amazing Mr Williams” centres on an amazing super-sleuth, Douglas, and Miss Blondell’s frantic efforts to take his mind off business long enough for marriage. A number of fine comedy portrayals enliven the action. They are contributed by Ruth Donnelly. Edward Brophy, Clarence Kolb, and Donald Macßride.
