FELL UNDER TRUCK

Watersider’s Death By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, November 26. Fatal injuries were suffered by a waterside worker on King’s Wharf, when he was caught under a line of moving trucks and dragged for 25 yards. The victim was Francis Gray, married, aged 57, of Newton. Gray was standing at the edge of the wharf near a crane, when the accident happened. As the train began to move off the wharf, it struck a heavy loading basket, knocking it against him, and he fell under the truck. The train was made up of about 30 12-ton waggons, and some seconds elapsed before the engine-driver was aware of the accident.. The ambulance was sent for, but Gray was dead when it arrived.
