GIRLS TERRORISED
FOOTPADS IN BLACK-OUT Black-out footpads are terrorising girls now that the evenings are drawing in, states the “Sunday Chronicle,” London. Handbag snatching under cover of darkness is their favourite trick. Joan Eddowes, attractive dancer in “New Faces,” the Eric Masclv itz revue at the Comedy Theatre, and who lives at Enfield, in North London, is one of the victims. She told a reporter: “Nearly every night, when I get out at my bus stop, well after midnight, a man who has been waiting in the darkness on the other side of the road, crosses over. He then follows me nearly two miles to my home. To add to my horror, he wears rubber-soled shoes, so that he keeps almost on my heels. So far, he has not attempted to molest me, but I keep a police whistle in my hand ready to blow”
