BORROWED PLUMES

Maori Lands In Gaol By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, November 19. For stealing another Maori’s military uniform and wearing it about the city for two days, Robert Marsh, aged 36, a labourer, was sentenced in the Magistrate’s Court to three months’ imprisonment. In a statement to the police Marsh said he asked Joseph Wiki, who was on leave, for the loan of his uniform to make people believe he was in the army, but was refused. That night while Wiki was asleep he took Wiki’s uniform from his room and wore it during the week-end. When Wiki questioned him he returned the uniform. The police said Marsh was at present on licence from prison. Since his liberation on licence his behaviour had been fairly satisfactory.
