HOUSES RATTLED

SEVERE ELECTRICAL STORM By Telegraph —Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, November 18. A severe electrical storm raged over North Taranaki last night. Heavy thunder and explosions rattled houses and caused loss of sleep in many homes. Vivid sheet lightning several times upset the electrical supply and interrupted telephone communications. It was the noisiest storm experienced locally for many years. In the 24 hours to 9 o’clock this morning, 2.53 inches of rain was recorded. Considering the noise made by the heavy showers this was a relatively light recording. Thunder and lightning commenced shortly after 10 o’clock and was still going at 5 o’clock this morning, though the severe period was confined to the hours between 1 o'clock and 3 o’clock.
