TECHNICAL COLLEGE

OLD STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING The fourth annual general meeting of the Technical High School Old Students’ Association was held at the Technical School on Wednesday evening. Mr B. T. Cox was in the chair, and there was a fair attendance of members. The annual report, which was presented by the president, stated that the accounts show’ed an excess of income over expenditure for the year of £3/8/10. Only one public function had been held in the form of a dance. The Tennis Club and Basketball Club both reported successful seasons; in addition, a team of Old Girls won the 1940 inter-house sports. The committee extended its thanks to all who assisted with donations, to the principal of the school and members of the staff and Board of Managers for their interest and assistance, and to Miss M. Spencer for her services as auditor. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, the principal (Mr F. L. N. Tuck); vice-patrons, Messrs P. R. Talbot, G. Benstead and A. Stead; president, Mr B. T. Cox; vice-presidents Miss M. Henderson and G. Andrews; secretary, Miss J. Whitticase: town committee, Mrs J. Blamires, Misses V. Burrow and M. Marsden, Messrs G. Ashton, F. O’Gorman and J. Hosking: country representatives, Miss L. Mills and E. Ivey, Mrs S. Bishop, Messrs A. Smith, O. Davey and D. Lyon. Miss M. Spencer was re-appointed auditor. It was decided to ask Mr S. Williams to act as Wellington representative, to keep in touch with old students there. The question of holding regular monthly meetings of a social nature was discussed, and the incoming committee was instructed to ascertain what support would be forthcoming for activities of that kind, and also what form of entertainment would be most popular
