PATRIOTIC DANCE The Patriotic Committee’s first dance on Saturday night was very well attended. The committee is running a waltzing competition extending over four nights. The winners of the first night were (Mr L. Cross, judge): Miss M. Scott and Mr N. V. Priddle; Miss L. Priddle and Mr M. Ferguson; Mrs D. A. Pearce and Mr D. W. Pearce. Mrs M. H. Harrison and Mr L. Woodham won the Monte Carlo. Mrs A. Scott played extras. Messrs W. J. Jackson and W. Waple were masters of ceremonies. WEATHER REPORT The rainfall for September, recorded by Mr C. R. Barnett, Winchester, was 4.29 inches. Rain fell on eight days as follows: Sept. 3rd, lOpts; 6th, I.3oins; 7th, I.79ins; Sth, 26pts; 10th, 3pts; 16th, 56pts; 25th, Bpts: 30th, I.7ins. The rainfall for the nine months is 19.55 inches. ST. JOHN’S LADIES’ GUILD Mrs L. A. Barnes presided over a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the St. John’s Ladies’ Guild. A bring and buy stall did a brisk trade. Several cash donations were received. Several competitions were arranged for the forthcoming sale of work. Mrs J. Deßenzy was thanked for her offer to supply soft drinks for her stall. A competition resulted as follows: Miss R. Wilks 1, Mesdames Barnes and Armstrong (equal) 2. The hostesses were Mesdames W. J. Moore and J. DeRenzy.
