EARLY MORNING FIRE

POST OFFICE DESTROYED By Telegraph—Press Association TAURANGA, October 14. The Katikati Post Office was completely destroyed by fire shortly after midnight. The exchange operator had just left the building and on glancing back noticed smoke. He was unable to reopen the building. Immediately he notified the Postmaster, who organised a bucket brigade, but it was unable to cope with the fire, which by 1.30 a.m. had completely gutted the building. The police are investigating.
