SOCIAL AT CRICKLEWOOD

The fortnightly euchre socials were brought to a close in the Cricklewood schoolroom wit one of the largest crowds yet to attend. The prizes went to Mr and Mrs D. Elliott while the consolation awards were gained by Miss M. Corbett and Mr J. Cameron. Music for the dance was supplied by Mrs Tinkler, extras being played by Miss Doreen Connor and Mr F. Campbell of Timaru. Mr A. Elliott acted as M.C. A lucky spot waltz was won by Miss M. Corbett and Mr F. O’Donnell. A guessing competition was won by Mr W. Higgs.

PERSONAL Motions of sympathy with the relatives of Messrs A. E. Jull, H. Major, and J. M. H. Tripp were passed at yesterday’s meeting of the Mackenzie County Council. Mr H. A. Baker of the Fairlie Post Office staff has received notice of his transfer to Timaru. He will not be replaced at Fairlie.

Several, novel features are included in the programme for the dance to be held in the Ao „ngi Hall to-morrow night for the Army Queen, who will be present at the function.
