CYCLING

WAIMATE TO CHRISTCHURCH RACE Tire Waimate to Christchurch road race for which no fewer than 53 riders have entered, will take place to-day. The limit riders will start from Waimate at 8.30 a.m. and are expected to reach Timaru about 10 a.m. Other riders will be despatched in groups at various intervals until the scratch men leave at 9.30. The following officials will take charge of the checking station at the Grand Hotel: —Superintendent, Mr H. H. Fraser; check stewards, Messrs W. H. Hall, R. A. Rodgers, F. Triggs, C. E. Hall, T. Riddle, N. Burns, J. Davey, and M. H. Richards; telegraph stewards, Messrs L. McKenzie and A. McLean; secretary, Mr G, V, Tozer.
