ENGLAND’S HEART
Momentous Months A STOKY TH UNFOLD The possibility of some thrilling revelations being made—"when the veil is lifted”—of what some of the past months have meant to England is mentioned in a letter received by a well-known Wellington resident from a member of the legal profession in England. There is also striking evidence in the letter of the confident spirit prevailing. "It is comforting to know,” the writer states, "that some at least of our suspected Quislings are behind bars. The tempo of life is quickening for us all, and we hate to think of the future. . . In the meantime our Day of Prayer has given us all fresh strength and courage and many of us believe it was answered by the Flanders miracle. "We are all tremendously revived by the new Coalition Government. Bevin and Morrison are magnificent men and will get things done, cutting through all Civil Service red tape. I believe we are quite clear now of the vested interests. “I am sorry one must generalise, but some day we may be able to lift the veil, and then you will be thrilled by England’s story of these months Meanwhile we are in great heart; tails right up; and happy in the knowledge that our brothers overseas are with us in this fight for decency. "You can all encourage us enormously by your prayers and example, as well as by your practical support. We are very, very far from starving and rationing or self-control in making purchases has really not been burdensome. Business, of course, is more difficult, but we carry on to ultimate victory. "The England that made New Zealand, Australia, Canada and ths rest will never die.”
