Tests Of De-seeding Machine UNQUALIFIED SUCCESS By Telegraph— Press Association BLENHEIM, June 27. "Close investigations of trials have proved the linen flax de-seeding machine, patented by Mr C. J. Lucas a Blenheim farmer, to be 100 per cent, satisfactory," said Mr R. B. Tennent, Director of Primary Production. "Actually, It is a superior machine to those which have been in use in Europe.” He said that the New Zealand Government intended to have approximately 50 machines manufactured immediately to cater for de-seeding operations where the crop is grown throughout the Dominion. Mr Tennent paid a tribute to the pioneering work which Mr Lucas and Mr L. C. Chaytor had done in connection with the linen flax industry. After an address by Mr Tennent offers were made by farmers to grow a further 100 acres of flax, bringing 800 acres in sight out o' a total of 1000 allocated to Marlborough In the coming season.
