OBITUARY
MR E. W. HALL oy Telegreph —Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, May 7. The death of Mr E. W. Hall, founder of Hall’s Botanic Dispensary in Armagh Street, brings to a close a business achievement rarely equalled Mr Hall, right up to the time of his death to-day at the age of 87, took a keen interest in his business, which was established in Armagh Street 66 years ago.
Mr Hall was born in Grantham, Lincolnshire, and arrived in Timaru in 1874 in the famous clipper Ballochmyle. He stayed in Timaru six months, where he helped to lay the first channelling in the streets. It was then that Mr Hall came to Christchurch and opened his first shop in Armagh Street. Mr Hall is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs Roy MacGregor, Messrs N. Hall, F. G. Hall, and R. E. Hall, all of Christchurch, and Mr W. Hall, of Vancouver.
