WEDDING

McCLE A N—M OKT O N The wedding was solemnised at the Banks Street Methodist Church on Saturday of Belle, younger daughter or Mrs T. Morton, Beverley Hill, and Robert, eldest son of Mr and Mrs McClean, of Invercargill. The Rev. Orchard performed the ceremony and Mr Bligh was at the organ. Mrs H. B. McClatchy sang “Angels Guard Thee.” The church was tastefully decorated with flowers in pink and blue tonings and autumn foliage. The bride, who was escorted by her brother. Mr Austin Morton, wore a close fitting frock of ivory lace over taffeta with slight train. The bodice was made with long sleeves and the high neckline was finished with a spray of orange-blossom. The veil (which was lent by the bride’s sister Mrs N. G. Hay of Nigeria), was of fine tulle edged with silver thread and was worn over the face and held in position by a spray of white and gold flowers. Her bouquet was a sheath of Philippinense lilies.

The bridesmaids, Miss Diana Smythe and Miss Gladys McClean were dressed alike in frocks of pale blue gauffre taffeta made with slightly flared skirts gathered at the back to form a bustle effect. The bodices were made with heart-shaped necklines and short full sleeves. They carried bouquets of cyclamen and carnations in pink and fuchsia shades and wore a spray in their hair to match.

Mr J. McClean of Invercargill and Mr R. Philips supported the bridegroom. The ushers were J. Garr and D. Annand. The reception was held at the Grand. Where the bride’s mother received the guests wearing an edge-to-edge coat of black wool georgette, over a floral silk frock and fox fur and black peach bloom felt hat. Her spray was of mixed autumn tones with blue. Mrs McClean, mother of the bridegroom wore a navy blue frock and coat with grey squirrel fur. navy hat and accessories. Her spray was made of autumn tinted flowers.

For travelling the bride wore a tailored suit of sage green with a rust stripe, jumper and hat to tone and brown accessories.
