WOMEN’S DIVISION
CANNINGTON Mrs Malthus presided at the annual meeting of the Cannington branch of the Women’s Division. The members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the late Prime Minister. Motions of sympathy were passed to Mrs McMaster senr., and Mrs B. Evans.
The president’s annual report showed that a satisfactory year had been experienced. It was decided that the Division should meet every second month and that after the business was dealt with the remainder of the afternoon be devoted to Red Cross work. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mrs Mathias; vicepresident, Miss Mai Scott; secretary. Miss Gwen Blackmore; treasurer, Mrs McKenzie; committee, the above officers and Mesdames Malthus. Squire, McPherson and Wisely; table steward. Miss R. Wisely; advisory member, Miss McPherson; hostess convener, Mrs Squire. Mrs Squire presented a bouquet to the retiring president, Mrs Malthus and expressed the members’ appreciation of her work for the Division. Mrs Mathias endorsed her remarks.
Competitions for the year were won by Mrs Blackmore, Mrs Malthus. Miss D. Wisely, Miss H. McKenzie, Miss R. Wisely and Miss H. Thomson. Competitions for the day resulted as follows: —Best marrow: Mrs Malthous 1. Premier bloom: Mrs J. Little 1, Mrs Squire 2, Mrs Little 3. Bowl of autumn tints: Mrs Squire 1, Mrs J. Little 2, Mrs Blackmore 3.
