H. Allchurch and Co. insert a reminder of the sale of freehold property situated No. 8 Selwyn Street which they are selling at 11 o'clock this morning on behalf of the executors of the estate of the late Mr C. S. Fraser.

The Railway Department advertises in this issue particulars of train arrangements and fares in connection with the races at Ashburton on May 11.

7716 North End Swimming Club Social Committee will hold a dance in the Bay Hall to-night. Hec. Macdonald’s band will be in attendance.

The ever-popular Scottish Society’s Saturday night dance in the Scottish Hall to-night. Dancers are assured of an enjoyable evening's entertainment. The monthly meeting of the Independent Order of Rechabites Benefit Society was held in the Woodlands St. Methodist Sunday School. The Deputy Ruler Brother Armstrong presided over a fair attendance of officers and members. The secretary read special correspondence from tlie Soutli Canterbury Friendly Societies Council concerning negotiations for additional benefits for Friendly Society members from the Hospital Board. After a discussion it was decided that full support be accorded the Council in Its efforts.

Morton and Co. Ltd. advertise a sale by public auction of a confectioner’s business on account of the Official Assignee and secured creditors on Wednesday, May 8. at 1.30 p.m. This business was formerly carried on by Mr B. Heil and will be offered as a going concern. If the bidding fails to reach the reserve price the stock and plant will be sold separately in small lots. Fuller particulars are in the auction columns. On Thursday next at 10 Craigie Avenue the firm will hold a sale of roofing iron, black pine and totara timber, doors, sashes and firewood, etc. The sale will be held wet or fine. On Friday next a sale of superior household furniture will be held at 1.30 p.m. in the Mart on account Mr O. Bracefield, who is leaving Timaru. A fuller list will be in next Thursday's issue.
