FIXTURE ABANDONED

Owing to the fact that nominations for only twenty-one horses have been received for the Marlborough Trotting Club’s meeting which was to have been held on May 11, the club has decided to abandon the fixture in the meantime.
Disdain and Ferriby ran a good mile in Imin 42 3-ssec, Shanghai Lily beating Sham Boy in Imin 43 3-ssec, while Sweet Mystery took Imin 17 3-ssec for six furlongs. The Vulture and Gold Nugget followed in Imin 17sec, and Rebel Chief did seven in Imin 30sec. Red Dragon gave a mixed display over the schooling hurdles, when ridden by L. Robinson. In the Dark went well over the pony hurdles. News has been received that Flashlight will not race at the Egmont meeting, having received some cuts when schooling earlier in the week. His mate, Streamline, may have his first start in the hurdle race on Saturday.
DJEBEL WINS CLASSIC
United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, May 2. The Two Thousand Guineas, for three-year-olds, over one mile, was decided at Newmarket yesterday. Following is the result: Djebel 1, Stardust 2, Tantieux 3. Twenty-one started. Won by two lengths, a head between second and third.
