The Stock Exchange Association of New Zealand advises shareholders in the Broken Hill Proprietary Company, Litd., that the following announcement of the Commissioner of Taxes that the recent new issue of shares in this company was to be included in returns for income tax and .social security tax purposes, representations were made to the deputy-Commissioner of Taxes and later to the Minister of Finance on the ground that shareholders had received nothing additional from the company either as dividend or as capital. It Is learned that early consideration is being given to these representations and a reply in the near future is expected. In the meantime shareholders are advised to show the number of new shares received by them either in the forms used in making returns or by separate letter.
